The Exemplar Health consortium including Capella Capital as lead sponsor, investor and asset manager has achieved Financial Close with the Victorian Government for the New Melton Hospital Project.

This landmark health infrastructure project will support the rapidly growing community in Melbourne's west, and will include a 24-hour emergency department, at least 274 beds, an intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, mental health services, radiology services and outpatient care. It will also be Victoria’s first fully-electric hospital, enabling it to be powered by renewable energy.

The project is being delivered as a public-private partnership, with Western Health as the public operator of all clinical services. This Financial Close achievement represents the strength of Capella Capital’s expertise in developing and financing public partnership projects and health infrastructure, following up on its success on the recent Frankston Hospital Redevelopment Project.

The Capella led Exemplar Health consortium comprises:

  • Capella Capital as lead sponsor, investor (on behalf of Lendlease), financial advisor and asset manager
  • Lendlease as design and construction partner
  • Honeywell and Compass Group Healthcare as facilities services providers
  • Invesis Coöperatie U.A as investor.

The design team is led by DesignInc and Architectus Conrad Gargett.

The Exemplar Health consortium will commence construction activities in 2025, with completion of the hospital scheduled for 2029.
