A distinguishing feature of Malcolm’s career is his proven ability to lead consortia in winning large complex PPPs in Australia and the United States. His past two PPP projects, recognised as ‘city changing’, include the Sydney Light Rail PPP and Darling Harbour Live reflecting the redevelopment of Sydney’s Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment facilities and associated public realm. His success is attributed to team and relationship building, his relentless drive and commercial acumen, founded on 25 years’ experience in infrastructure development and financing, investment banking and chartered accounting.
Malcolm’s wealth of experience in project development, asset management, investment and financing has been gained via an almost exclusive focus on PPP’s within the economic, transport and social infrastructure markets, developing holistic capability across every aspect of these transactions. Through his deep understanding of the government’s aspirations and project objectives he galvanises his teams to achieve outstanding, community-oriented outcomes.
Malcolm has also sat on a variety of project company boards gaining considerable experience in what it takes to successfully deliver projects through construction and into the operating phases. Malcolm also has considerable experience in raising investment and fund capital in a variety of markets and asset sectors.
Prior to joining Capella Capital four years ago he headed Babcock & Brown’s North American Transport and Social Infrastructure Group in New York. Previously he was the Local Managing Director in ABN AMRO’s highly regarded Infrastructure Capital Group in Sydney where he was a member of the team for 12 years.
